There are no secrets that some social media platforms are more important than others especially when it comes to searching for clients. Some are fantastic like Facebook and Instagram. Others are pretty good like LinkedIn and Google. Never look for clients in content Mills like Fiverr, Upwork and others if you want to earn a living writing copy. Trying to earn a living writing for content Mills make you a blind sweeper. You will be competing with millions of people from countries where standard of living is low. They are ready to receive $2,$3 or$5 for gigs. Some write in Asian and African countries for such sums because it is better than what they will earn from a natural job. Let's look at where and why you should be looking for incredible clients .
1) INSTAGRAM. This is the only platform in the world to actually establish yourself as an expert in copywriting. This is because it is equivalent to a website, a search engine, and a direct messaging platform all put into one. You need to write educative SEO optimized content on regular basis. This will help showcase your expertise to prospects and potential clients. You will need to find out how to sign up with great clients on Instagram. You will have to make yourself more attractive on Instagram by doing the following:
✓maket your profile great with strong profile and background pictures.
✓highlight what you do.
✓put great testimonials
✓write content regularly in your feed. ✓howcase your case- study .
✓get your hashtag and position your account to search for prospects in your niche.
✓write some scripts regularly. That's how you are going to land clients.
2) FACEBOOK. Most specifically Facebook groups. It shines like a giant light from heaven bringing great niche prospects to you. Here search and join groups in your niche such as COPYWRITERS, restaurant owners, e-commerce, hotels, content writers. There's is a group for every niche you can ever think of. Go to the search bar above GROUPS, and enter the name and search. Type phrases like:
•copywriters
•restaurant owners
•hotel owners
•website owners
•social media etc.
Search for these owners and put an introductory post telling them what you do. That post will show up. You then start contributing valuable post in your niche once your request is approved. You can write "how to posts", "posts on tips", "guidelines" on what you offer. In the case of copywriting, you can write tips on:
°email marketing.
°writing great ads.
°writing SEO.
°writing sales letters that easily convert.
°writing powerful social media posts etc.
Remember, these tips or any other writings must be on the niche or topic you offer.
It is great if you can backup your tips with success stories from clients to get more credibility. This also means you are getting great results from people to back up what you are doing. When someone comments on your post, feel free to send a direct message to him or her to keep the conversation going. You can also watch videos and read books or articles on how to use Facebook groups.
3) GOOGLE. This is especially good for local businesses if you are going out for restaurants, gyms etc.
Here, simply type in Google search all the businesses in your niche. All the websites will come up. Click on those of interest and scroll to the bottom, go to 'Contact us page' , 'About page.' Search for the emails and telephone numbers of the hiring officers. You can use email software to extract email of the manager, chief marketing officer, communication director and more. You can contact him or her via cold email, and send a video of yours reviewing one of their sales letter, email, ads or anything you offer that they use. Give suggestions on what you think can be improved in the sales letter, email, or ads . You end with a call to action to contact you by email or phone for a 5 minutes talk. When you receive a response, give your ideas how they can improve upon their sales letter, email campaigns, ads, SEO, or social media posts whatever it is that you offer. You can give them templates on sales letter, email campaigns, ads, etc. If you want an email template, I recommend you check on John Bruchan. He is a cold email king. He gives a lot of advice on emailing and email list. His email list cost $100 .
When ever you approach someone, do well to program your follow up because it is incredible. Follow up is 80% responsible for the success of you business and other one you will eventually meet.
4) LINKEDIN. A hand full of clients succeed here. You need to make a great profile with attractive profile and background pictures. Your content should be accessible and easy to read. To be very successful here, buy LinkedIn navigator which at $99 per month. You can link this with an external software for maximum results. Combining the navigator and external software will ease connecting with prospects and customers. The machines will work for you. All you do is pick your calls and discuss with clients.
5) YOUR NETWORK.Avoid going cold at all cost, and at all times. Meaning if you know someone that knows the prospect or the person you are trying to reach out to, for the love God, do all you can to get the introduction from your friend to the client. Connect with people to sell your services and ask for work. Try to reach every human being you come across; your sister, colleague, neighbors, and introduce yourself, services from time to time. When you have clearly established yourself in any niche and keep them informed, you will be the first person to think of once any of they meet a client.
Pair up with people who are working in the same niche or nearby niches as you, that are offering complementary services
Be ready to refer people in your network to jobs you come across. This will allow them do same when the opportunity presents itself. Pair up with people working in the same niche or near by niches as you that offer complementary services. You can always land great jobs.
6) THE REVERSE AD HACK. This is a bonus space to help yo find clients. This is the equivalence of you running ads for business, where your clients pay for, instead of you paying them. In other words, your clients pay you for ads they run instead of you paying them. What I mean is when you browse Facebook, Instagram, Google etc, and meet an ad in your niche, click on it and do the following:
- check the sales page.
- Check the landing page.
-sign up for the email list. See what things can be improved then reach out to the person running the ads. Inform him or her on anything you think can be improved. If accepted, you will be paid to improve upon. Tell your friends to forward to you any app on your niche. Have a whole network of people looking this up for you. Have you ever seen a situation where you chat with a friend about something, then turn around and saw an ad about that same thing? Build your network here.
So far, these are the best places you can search for copywriting work. Follow the guidelines here and you will never regret.
