Marketing strategies , research, staying relevant are common for both content and copywriting. But they are vastly different.
Copywriting is aim at converting leads or prospects into potential or regular customers using selected words. Carefully chosen words remain the vehicle of great copywriting and the asernal of a copywriter. Without a careful selection of words, it is likely to miss your targeted audience. Remember, communication only possible if those concerned understand themselves through the use of correct words.
Content writing is written to educate, entertainment and inspire the reader with no intentions of selling a product or service,or cause someone take action of any type. Words used here are well selected to pass the message to the correct audience.
One could say that copywriting is a part of content writing. Copywriting veers more towards advertising. It's from a selling perspective.Think of driving a message home through ads. It’s done with minimal dialogue and a call to action. Basically putting words into action. It has a catchy line. It could vary from a detergent ad to an apple ad, sales letters, email campaigns, web pages, just to name a few.
Content writing in comparison is more descriptive and packed with information. Content writing is done in collaboration to help build a customer/ audience base. Blogging, academic essay writing, story writing, feature writing, email marketing etc are types on content writing.
